Belt Lipectomy - Body Lift
A Body Lift eliminates the exess skin associated with weight loss around the mid-section. The term "mommy-lift" is sometimes associated with the procedure because of the natural skin stretching that occurs while carrying a child.
A body lift improves the shape and tone of the underlying tissue that supports fat and skin. Excess sagging fat and skin are removed to treat conditions caused in part by poor tissue elasticity.
The thigh and buttock skin is be elevated during a Belt Lipectomy by removing a section of skin that lies under what is normally covered by underwear or a bathing suit. The remaining scar lies across the lower abdomen and just above the buttocks on the back. It is basically an abdominoplasty which extends around the back and is designed to be hidden by a bikini type brief. Skin striae, or stretch marks, if present, will not disappear but are usually dramatically diminished. The major effects of the belt lipectomy procedure are buttock tightening, diminishing or completely removing thigh cellulite and removal of back rolls or excess back skin. A simple way to test for the result of such a procedure is to widely pinch the skin just above the hips on both sides while looking in the mirror.
The results of a body lift are visible almost immediately. However, it may take as much as one to two years, or more, for the final results of the body lift procedures to fully develop.
Scars will remain, but the overall results are long-lasting, provided that you maintain a stable weight and general fitness.
As your body ages, it is natural to lose some firmness. However, most of your initial improvement should be relatively permanent.
